The building began as a mansion in 1778, and has been added on to and changed many times, for a time was the Royal Bank of Scotland, then the Royal Exchange. Fallen into disrepair the city of Glasgow bought it 1949, and ultimately in the '90s opened it as a museum,

Glasgow, All Decked out for Christmas
It's fun here, the weather is about 40 degrees warmer than Denver, it's barely misted, once the nasty storm blew out yesterday morning, there's a Christmas Market around the corner of my little hotel (the Rennie MacIntosh), where I've been eating really good for very little Pounds. The Christmas spirit is alive and well here, so here's some pix of that.
Icelandair Flight 1670 Leaves Denver
Unless you are on British Airways nonstop to London or Lufthansa to Frankfort, Icelandair is the best way to get to Europe from Denver. The flight departs Denver at a convenient 4:15 pm, is 6.5 hours to Reykjavik, arrival at 6:30 am, where you can layover for up to 7 days for no extra charge, or connect within an hour to 20 different cities in Europe. Their fares are really reasonable if you book ahead. The planes are spotless, comfortable (good leg room), the flight attendants are cheerful, plentiful, smartly attired, and generally blond! Food is available for purchase, short menu, but excellent chicken with green curry with mango salsa, broccoli, sweet potato and rice was my choice. Was spicy and delicious. We were on time all the way, the short layover at Keflavik Airport is easy. Early morning is bustling, all the shops, food outlets and bars are open, there's an outdoor smoking area by the gates, all very easy. Glasgow is only an hour and a half flight from there. Just before landing we went through rather extreme turbulence for a few minutes, some people were shrieking, we got on the ground to the gate, the jet way malfunctioned and we waited on the plane for an hour and a half till the weather cleared and they got us off by stairs. The bonus was a few shots of the plane (Boeing 757) up close from the ground.
Off to deicing, note all the snow on the wing, the plane overnights in Denver
It took a long time to gett all that show off
Dawn over Scotland, fierce winds below.
Each plane is named for an Icelandic Volcano

A Few Shots Onboard The Carnival Sunshine
The Sunshine was, as promised by Carnival, a fun experience. The service was really good the food was quite good, cabin and steward fine, bartenders and individual entertainers good or really good as well. All in all a great 16 days from Barcelona to New Orleans.
