Hotel de Bordeaux is a real find in pricey Paris. I really enjoyed my stay here. The owner is a super friendly young man named Yaz, always smiling and helpful. This small hotel is located minutes from both the Gare du Nord, where I arrived via Eurostar from London, and the Gare de l'Est, where I caught the TGV to Munich yesterday, which made it really easy. The rooms are newly renovated, spotless, small, with fast free wifi and great big windows that open--loved that. Excellent croissants and coffee are served in a cute little room in the cellar (must have been for the coal back in the day) in the morning. It sits at the top of Rue du Faubourg Saint Denis, which is a narrow street full of shops and cafes that real Parisiens use, and that also conveniently descends quite a long way towards the Seine, making for a nice walk towards the Louvre and the Pompidou and lots of other sights. The price for five nights: 300 Euro, or about $400, a room at the Ramada on Colfax in Denver would cost that much! Loved it, highly recommended!
