It's a Wild and Windy Morn!

We're 400 nautical miles (x1.15=1 statute mile)  already out into the Atlantic. The wind is fierce,  described as force 7 (near gale) on the ships log, and the ship is pitching really good, but rolling hardly at all   I love it!  Seems quite a few other passengers like it as well, by the number braving the wind to do a turn about the deck. All the side doors are roped off, you can get out there via the stern where its sheltered.

The library is all the way forward on deck eight overlooking the bow, that's where I am now.  It's a good spot to watch the sea as we plough through.  The ship shudders as we hit the bottom of each trough, the pictures on the wall are swinging around.   Really fun, yay!

Captain Paul Wright just gave his noon announcement, describing the seas as very rough, wind is now force eight, we're making 24 knots (again x 1.15= mph) meaning the effective wind across the open deck is 60-70 knots.  The swells are seven meters, there's 6,000 feet of water beneath us,  it's 2,800 miles to Ambrose lighthouse off New York, and I'm wearing my Titanic t shirt.  No wonder I'm so happy!
